Friend Leaderboards, Kaiju updates, Twin styles, and more!

I find it a little suspicious that Foge's scores are so much higher than mine in a game he designed.

Kaiju Defense Club

Play Now: https://kaiju-defense-club.2weeks.games/ (PC only)

We pushed another big update for Kaiju Defense Club - there’s more polish and tuning, but the big new thing is lobbies and leaderboards! Kaiju Defense Club was inspired by the fun of hanging out in arcades with your friends, and we wanted to create that kind of “local” experience.

Now when you launch Kaiju Defense Club, you’ll create a lobby that you can invite your friends to - all you have to do is share the URL (there’s also a “copy link” button next to the lobby mission list). Many people can join the lobby and even have multiple missions going in parallel.

Everyone’s scores now get added to that lobby’s leaderboards. There are separate leaderboards for single player and teams of different sizes. The lobby and leaderboards are persistent, so you can return to them across many sessions, and you and your friends can compete at different times.

When you revisit the site, you’ll get the option to rejoin the lobby you previously visited or create a new one. There’s no global leaderboard, only the spaces you and your friends create to hang out and compete.

If you get a particularly high score, we’d love to hear about it in the 2weeks Fun Club discord server!

Twin Editor

It’s been really cool to see people jumping in to the very first build of Twin Editor and then hopping into Discord to give us feedback.

We shipped the Twin Editor super early (as we do with all of our experiments) so that we could get feedback on style before we started to get locked in with a bunch of customization options built around a particular set of proportions and style. We’re working on a big second pass revision; here’s a preview of the next revision. Sound off on the #2weeks-twins channel in the 2weeks Fun Club with feedback!

Vapor Solitaire

Speaking of Discord, you can now install Vapor Solitaire on your own Discord server.

Just add it from the Discord app directory here.

It may seem a little paradoxical to install a solitaire game on a Discord server, but we’ve found having our particularly chill version of solitaire available to play when you’re hanging out waiting for a group call to start is a nice way to pass the time. We’re considering adding some form of light multiplayer, too - probably something simple like just letting everyone who’s playing just move cards around at the same time. Give it a shot and let us know if you think that’d be a nice addition!
